2 Euro Commemorative Coin Luxembourg 2015 125th Anniversary of the Nassau-Weilburg Dynasty Issued in 2015, the coin marks 125 years since 1890, when Adolphe of Nassau acceded to the Luxembourg throne after the death of William III, King of the Netherlands and Grand Duke of Luxembourg. His accession ended the personal union with the Netherlands and ushered in the Nassau‑Weilburg line’s rule in Luxembourg. Adolphe took the constitutional oath before the Chamber of Deputies on 9 December 1890. The design shows Grand Duke Henri at left; to the right, in order of accession, appear Adolphe, Guillaume IV, Marie‑Adélaïde, Charlotte, and Jean. At the center the vertical inscriptions "LUXEMBOURG" and "2015" appear; beside them are the date "1890" and the inscription "DYNASTIE NASSAU-WEILBOURG". The issue’s details credit Herbert Wähner; the ECB notice confirms the sequence but gives no designer.
