2 Euro Commemorative Coin Malta 2018 From Children in Solidarity Cultural Heritage – 2018 commemorates key elements of Malta’s history and identity. The €2 commemorative coin was issued on 7 November 2018 as the third release in the “From Children in Solidarity” programme, launched in 2015 by the Central Bank of Malta together with the Ministry for Education and Employment and the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation. Its theme highlights the islands’ prehistoric megalithic temples, distinctive church architecture and maritime traditions. In a collage-like design, Nicole Dimech combines a temple gateway, the sun, a church tower, the sea and a traditional Maltese boat flying the national flag. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European flag.
